ANIMO LA SALLE!

Filed under: Archer, LSGH — reneeroserodriguez @ 6:35 am

In times like this… I don’t know what to say to take my son’s heartache away…
Should I say “Being number two doesn’t make you half green or half blue because after all everything is not about basketball”… it’s hard coz everybody (like everybody I know) bets on who’s gonna be champion this UAAP season… much as I don’t want to take part, I can’t help it… I have a green archer in my house… everytime he goes home, he talks about Chris Tiu and Al-Husseini… he said if wishes do come true, he wishes that these two will be with the green not with the blue… hahaha!

I told him that he shouldn’t feel bad coz they both have good standing in the society but there can only be one champion or #1 in every field… like in Paascu accreditation: where there can be several schools to be granted PAASCU LEVEL III but ONLY La Salle Green Hills holds the record of being FIRST AND THE ONLY SCHOOL IN THE PHILIPPINES given the highest accreditation there is… so how’s that to start with? I feel for all the Archers who feel so sad about being number two this time around… but hey guys, have you forgotten that we have been seven times Champion since we joined the UAAP league and ADMU, on the other hand, won the championship only 4 times including their latest victory… so maybe it’s just time to let the blue gets to feel how it is to be like us… just as their coach said in an interview “Everytime we beat La Salle, it’s always a big win for us. It’s a good win for us!” why not? we are the only ones they consider UNBEATABLE and that’s way to noble for their coach to admit… that in itself is a gesture of acknowledgement of our power over them… hehehe!

Anyway, that’s not really what I told my son about coz I don’t want him to spend time on who’s the winner or the loser… I just told him that in everything he does he has to give his best and that’s the only thing that matters… winning or losing is just an icing on the cake… with regards to the choice of school, it is still the education that really matters… and hello? the PAASCU already decided on that matter… so whoever won the basketball championship doesn’t justify the amount of money we spend for our child’s education it is the PAASCU’s standards that determines the quality we get out of our hard earned pay…

ANIMO LA SALLE!

(In short, we may not be the champion this time but we are definitely not the LAST… WE are the next best to say the least)

And to top it all, Bob and I still OFFICIALLY BELONG TO THIS YEAR’S CHAMPIONS (Cheerdance that is) because we are pure blooded UP MAROONS… we’d still rather sing “UP NAMING MAHAL” than shout any other cheer! And the Archer being our son, still qualifies as UP MAROONS’ offspring… walang katalo-talo hahaha!

  1. Well, La Salle at the least could have sent a representative to accept the runner-up award since the team was not gallant enough to accept defeat.
It was a very discourteous act on La Salle’s part to “snub” the awarding ceremonies. I hope you had some good explanations for your son just in case he noticed that part of the awarding rites. :-)

  2. Too bad… I was also unaware that there was an awarding ceremony… maybe I was too upset to continue watching it kaya di ko na naabutan… PAGBIGYAN MO NA AT nanibago lang ang mga batang ‘yon di kasi siguro sanay matalo (they should’ve asked the eagles the how to’s of accepting defeat)… try to understand at IABULOY mo na sa mga bata yun, hehehe! I’m sure makakagalitan naman sila sa school eh at sa kani-kanilang mga tahanan…

And don’t worry, your point is well taken…
